Just recently myself and other Meggendorfer Prize winners received an invitation to speak and show examples of our work at an exhibition of pop-up books in Taiwan in the New Year. Needless to say I feel very honored to be invited and excited to go!
I believe this will be the second Taiwan location for this exhibition. The first was held in Taipei earlier in 2012 and this time around the exhibition has moved inland to Taichung. The exhibition is a privately held collection of pop-up books going back to the beginning of the genre. You can view images of the exhibition here, (scroll down the page), and if your Chinese is better than mine you can read about it also, otherwise you’ll have to do what I did, and use the Google translator!
I will be talking about Paper Blossoms and the process of paper engineering, plus showing new work from my next book. I’ve also been asked to create a pop-up featuring one of Taichung’s landmark buildings which I’m wrestling with right now! I think flowers are definitely easier! I will post a picture of that after I’ve presented it in Taichung.
